CMU Engineering and Tsinghua University Strengthen Strategic Collaboration in EV and Clean Energy Research

On April 9, 2026, the Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University, led by Associate Professor Dr. Thongchai Fongsamootr, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, accompanied by members of the executive team and staff, conducted an official visit to the School of Vehicle and Mobility, Tsinghua University, People’s Republic of China, to advance strategic discussions on international academic and research collaboration.

The visit focused on exchanging insights into research capabilities and future directions, while identifying strategic collaboration opportunities in advanced engineering fields, particularly mechanical engineering and modern energy systems.
Key discussion areas included joint research in mechanical engineering, immersion cooling technologies for EV battery thermal management, and hydrogen production via coal gasification, which are crucial for advancing low-carbon energy solutions.
Both institutions also explored approaches to integrating research expertise and resources, aiming to establish tangible collaboration and lay a strong foundation for long-term joint research initiatives.
This collaboration marks a significant milestone in strengthening the global academic and research presence of the Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University, while fostering innovation in sustainable energy and electric mobility.
