Engineering CMU to Co-Host International Conference ICEF 2026 with Korea’s KIEE

On 12 February 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University, welcomed a delegation from the Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers (KIEE), Republic of Korea, to discuss potential collaboration in co-hosting the International Conference on Electrical Facilities and Informational Technologies 2026 (ICEF 2026).

The CMU delegation was led by Associate Professor Dr. Paramate Wirasanti, together with Associate Professor Dr. Doldet Tantraviwat, Associate Professor Dr. Sirote Khunkitti, and Assistant Professor Dr. Wisarut Achariyaviriya, faculty members from the Department of Electrical Engineering.

The KIEE delegation comprised 3 distinguished representatives:

1. Professor Hyungchul Kim, President of KIEE and Professor at University of Science and Technology

2. Professor Wonheok Choi, Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, Hanbat National University

3. Dr. Seungkwon Shin, Principal Research Engineer, Korea Railroad Research Institute

The discussion focused on collaborative arrangements for co-hosting ICEF 2026, which is scheduled to take place from 18–21 August 2026 in Chiang Mai, Thailand, under the theme: “New Intelligence Technology Trend: Past, Present and Future”

The conference aims to promote academic exchange and research collaboration in intelligent technologies, electrical systems, smart infrastructure, and innovations in information technology, covering developments from the past and present to emerging future trends.

This meeting marks an important milestone in strengthening academic cooperation between Thailand and the Republic of Korea. It seeks to foster a robust network among researchers, academics, and industry partners to advance research and innovation in electrical engineering and intelligent technologies at the international level. The selection of Chiang Mai as the host city also highlights Chiang Mai University’s strong potential as a venue for international academic conferences and reinforces Thailand’s role as an emerging hub for technology and innovation in the ASEAN region.
