The Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University, welcomed representatives from Krungsri Bank – Japanese Business Unit (JPC Banking) for a discussion on potential collaboration to advance Thailand’s semiconductor industry. The meeting was led by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and the executive management team, together with representatives from the Japanese Corporate Banking Division and Krungsri Nimble.

Initial discussions outlined several areas of cooperation, including organizing career seminars with leading Japanese companies, developing internship and scholarship programs with post-graduation employment conditions (ranging from 15 months to 2 years), and engaging industry partners in senior projects in IC Design under appropriate confidentiality frameworks. Additional collaboration may include participation in university job fairs and networking activities. The partnership envisions Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) and Bank of Ayudhya serving as strategic bridges to strengthen credibility and facilitate connections with Japanese companies and universities.

This discussion marks an important step in integrating the financial sector, academia, and industry to accelerate the development of high-quality talent and enhance Thailand’s readiness to compete in the regional semiconductor landscape. It reflects a coordinated effort to close skill gaps and build a sustainable foundation for long-term semiconductor investment in the country.
