Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University Signs MoU with General Maintenance Engineering Co., Ltd. to Advance Knowledge and Research in Structural Integrity Assessment and Civil Engineering

On 16 February 2026 at 10:30 a.m., the Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University, held a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with General Maintenance Engineering Co., Ltd. The ceremony took place at Gear 202 Meeting Room, Faculty office Building, Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University. The objective of the MoU is to promote and support academic collaboration, particularly in the fields of civil engineering and structural integrity assessment, in order to enhance the capabilities of personnel and students to meet the challenges of the digital era.
The signing ceremony was presided over by Associate Professor Dr. Thongchai Fongsamootr, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University, and Mr. Wisarat Eampracha, Managing Director of General Maintenance Engineering Co., Ltd., who signed the agreement as representatives of the two institutions. The event was witnessed by executives, faculty members, and company representatives
The MoU encompasses collaboration in research and development of Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) systems in both laboratory and field settings; support for knowledge exchange and human resource development; the organization of training programs and academic activities; and the development of hardware and software technologies aimed at advancing toward products eligible for registration under the “Made in Thailand (MIT)” certification.
In addition, the partnership emphasizes the development of an integrated SHM platform incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and SCADA monitoring systems to support future infrastructure and building projects.
