On 18 August 2026, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., the Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thongchai Fongsamootr<\/strong>, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, together with Asst. Prof. Dr. Chatchawan Chaichana<\/strong>, Vice Dean; Asst. Prof. Dr. Faifan Tantakitti<\/strong>, Assistant Dean and Deputy Director of Chiang Mai International Engineering School; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sermkiat Jomjunyong<\/strong>, welcomed a delegation from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering<\/strong>, Vietnam, on the occasion of their visit to the Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University. The visit aimed to explore opportunities for future collaboration in academic affairs, exchange programs and research between the institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The delegation comprised:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. <\/strong>Prof. Nguyen Hay<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former President of Nong Lam University and Professor, Department of Thermal and Refrigeration Engineering, Faculty of Energy Engineering and Transport<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. <\/strong>Prof. Dr. Thanhtrung Dang<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Faculty of Energy Engineering and Transport<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, both parties exchanged information on their respective universities, academic programs, teaching and learning activities, and research capabilities. They also discussed potential areas for future collaboration, with plans to pursue a formal cooperation agreement between the two institutions to establish a framework for joint activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initial discussion focused on three key areas of collaboration:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. <\/strong>Student Exchange<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Promoting opportunities for students from both institutions to participate in exchange programs for one semester or longer, enabling them to broaden their academic and international experience while enhancing their language and cross-cultural skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. <\/strong>Faculty and Researcher Exchange<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supporting the exchange of faculty members and researchers for teaching, knowledge sharing, joint research, and the exchange of expertise between the two universities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. <\/strong>Joint Research and Funding Opportunities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Encouraging the development of collaborative research projects and joint proposals for government funding, particularly funding opportunities supported by the Government of Vietnam. The collaboration also seeks to strengthen the translation of research into practical applications through industry partnerships, leveraging Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering\u2019s strong network and close engagement with the industrial sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting marked another important step in expanding the Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University\u2019s international academic network. It also laid the foundation for future cooperation in education, student and faculty mobility and collaborative research that can bridge academic knowledge with industry and generate sustainable mutual benefits for both institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
