CMU Engineering Students Sweep All Top Honors at IPBL 2026 in Vietnam

The Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Nat Vorayos, along with faculty members and students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, participated in the IPBL 2026 (International Project-Based Learning) program under the theme “Wind Turbine Design and Experimentation.” The program took place from August 18–23, 2026, at the College of Engineering, Can Tho University, in Can Tho, Socialist Republic of Vietnam, with coordination provided by the Chiang Mai University International Engineering Education Center (CM-IES).
For the 2026 program, Can Tho University served as the host institution, welcoming faculty and students from four leading institutes: Osaka Institute of Technology (OIT) from Japan, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (Taiwan Tech) from Taiwan, Can Tho University from Vietnam, and the Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University from Thailand. During the event, students worked in international teams to collaboratively design, build, and test small-scale wind turbines through wind tunnel testing and vibration testing.
Demonstrating exceptional engineering capabilities, all three student representatives from Chiang Mai University secured top honors, sweeping every category of the competition:
Winner: Ms. Natlada Rattana
1st Runner-up: Mr. Tanakrit Ratchawong
2nd Runner-up: Mr. Settapon Rittawa
The IPBL program is held annually with rotating host institutions, aiming to provide students with hands-on project-based learning experiences, foster cross-cultural teamwork skills, and apply engineering knowledge to solve real-world challenges. Next year, the Faculty of Engineering, Chiang Mai University, will proudly serve as the host for IPBL 2027. Interested students can stay tuned for updates and application details through the Chiang Mai International Engineering School (CM-IES).
