TAICHUNG, TAIWAN Delegates from the Faculty of Engineering and the Department of Electrical Engineering at Chiang Mai University (CMU) recently completed their first campus visit to National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) on May 27, 2026. The visit marks the establishment of a new bilateral relationship aimed at advancing international education and technological research.

The CMU delegation, featuring Assoc. Prof. Ukrit Mankong and Assoc. Prof. Doldet Tantraviwat, met with NCHU representatives from the i-Center for Advanced Science and Technology (iCAST), the Department of Electrical Engineering, and the Smart Machinery Technology R&D Center. The NCHU team, led by Prof. Mon-Shu Ho and Prof. Jenn-Ming Song, welcomed the delegates to formalize academic and research cooperation.

Future Academic Initiatives

Both institutions outlined an ambitious roadmap for future collaboration. They plan to initiate several cross-border educational pathways, including:

  • A double master’s degree program
  • Bilateral student exchange programs
  • A specialized summer school opportunity

These programs will focus on high-demand, high-impact fields: semiconductor engineering, electronics, optoelectronics, and sustainable manufacturing.

The partnership between the two institutions has already begun yielding immediate academic benefits. During the visit, the CMU delegation toured NCHU’s research laboratories, and CMU professors delivered guest lectures to share their research activities and insights with NCHU graduate students.
